Chrysoprase is an apple green variety of chalcedony, a microcrystalline form of quartz, coloured by trace nickel within its structure. It forms in the weathered zones of nickel deposits, as silica rich fluids fill cavities and slowly harden over time, with some of the finest material coming from Australia.
