Citrine is a yellow to orange variety of quartz, with its warm colour coming from trace iron within the crystal. Natural citrine is genuinely rare and comes mostly from Brazil, most citrine sold commercially is actually amethyst that has been heat treated to shift its colour from purple to gold.
