Flower Agate is a relatively recent discovery, first identified in Madagascar in 2018. It's a variety of chalcedony that forms within gas cavities in volcanic basalt, where silica rich fluids slowly deposit layers over time. Its signature "flowers" are plume like inclusions of opaque chalcedony, thought to form from variations in the rate of mineral deposition, giving it a soft, blossom filled appearance against a translucent pink, peach, or cream base.
