Blue Topaz is a variety of topaz, an aluminium fluorosilicate mineral that forms in cavities within granite and rhyolite. Virtually all blue topaz on the market starts out as colourless topaz that's been irradiated and then heat treated to develop its blue colour. Naturally blue topaz does exist, but it's extremely rare and usually very pale.
Blue Topaz is good for:
Supporting clear communication
Encouraging calm and relaxation
Inviting honesty and self expression
Aiding mental clarity
Bringing a sense of peace
Pairs well with: Aquamarine and Sodalite, for a calm, communicative combination.
As most blue topaz gets its colour through irradiation and heat treatment rather than forming naturally blue, its colour will be more even and consistent than an untreated stone's, though it will still include any natural inclusions or markings from its original formation.
