Unakite is a mottled green and pink metamorphic rock, made up mainly of green epidote, pink feldspar, and quartz. It forms when granite is altered by heat and pressure over long periods of time, first identified in the Unaka Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee, which is where its name comes from.
